How It All Started
While Heather and RJ first began dating, they talked about their future. On the first trip the two went on, RJ said he would never get married. Heather said, "Maybe if you meet the right person?". They brushed it off for awhile, but eventually got married. At the time Heather was commuting two hours a day to her job as a teacher. RJ was working as an auto mechanic. After getting her Masters degree in Education, Heather decided it was time to buy a house. Isn't that the goal that everyone aspires for in their 20s? A great career, a house, a car, and marriage?
At the time, RJ said he really wanted to buy a tiny home. Heather said, I'm tired of commuting, so I'm buying a house, you can rent a room if you'd like to. And so it happened...Heather bought a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house in Rosamond. (The town from the Captain Marvel movie). As they were living in the house, they kept accruing items. There was a pretty cool setup: master bedroom, a movie room, an art room, and a guest bedroom we rented out to a friend for awhile.
But all along, they kept on watching videos about tiny homes and houses. Three years living in the house later, the pandemic hit...They were responsible and decided to limit their traveling. So they began a project. Heather and RJ bought a cargo trailer and began transforming it into a weekend warrior RV. They went with a cargo trailer because they are sturdier than campers (see picture below).
They also wanted to be able to haul RJ's motorcycle. Heather and RJ were also intrigued by the idea of creating their own customized trailer...Had they known they would end up going tiny, a cargo trailer would not have been the first choice. But for now it will do.
Thanks for following along and please ask questions about going tiny.
